Dear Father Christmas,
This year I would like ... A Pride and Prejudice sequel filled with murder and mystery ... The resurrection of a brilliant detective and a stonkingly good explanation as to how he survived "the fall" and ... a tear-jerking send off for a bowtie wearing Doctor.
I've been ever so good, lots of love,
The Optimist xx
This week has seen the announcement of the 2013 Christmas TV schedule and corrr blimey there's some cracking programmes coming up. The BBC are only giving us a month to recover from the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who before screening "The Time of the Doctor" on Christmas Day, the end of the road for Matt Smith and the start of the Capaldi era. Then, on New Year's Day, TV in 2014 looks set to peak before it's even begun as series three of Sherlock makes its debut. Quite rightly, the Beeb are keeping the details of their flagship shows very hush hush, so expect surprises a-plenty.
Costume drama fans rejoice, as Boxing Day brings with it the much hyped adaptation of P.D.James' Death Comes to Pemberley. A violent crime, a murder trial - this is Pride and Prejudice with a bit of added zing, but as you'll see from the surprisingly gritty trailer there's still plenty of palpitations from Mrs. Bennet and smooching from the Darcys, so even the most ardent of Jane Austen fans will surely not be disappointed.
