You may remember a post I wrote some time ago in which I declared my love for the work of Richard Curtis. The post was subsequently viewed by Emma Freud, Curtis's partner and script editor on many of his films, who tweeted that it was, and I quote "gorgeous" *smiles proudly*. We're well into December, so I expect you've all enjoyed your annual viewing of Curtis classic, Love Actually, and on Saturday Richard, Emma and two of their kids did just the same, when they attended a midnight screening of the film in New York. Rather marvellously, Emma live tweeted throughout, with hilarious insights into the making of the film, so now, it's her turn for a bit of love from The Optimist. Take a look ...
At a midnight screening of Love Actually on 6th avenue. 1st time richard has seen the movie in a cinema since the premiere.

It seems Love Actually may not be as much of a Christmas favourite across the pond as it is here ...
Oops. Four people. I was optimistic. This film not as popular as I had hoped. #loveactually

Emma was keen to let us know the film was a family affair ...
Remember the housekeeper in the hugh grant arriving at Downing Street line up? That was my mum. And still is. #loveactually

And in the Nativity scene ...
When the children song at the school concert... My daughter is the second lobster! The. Second. Lobster. My. Daughter. #LoveActually

And the wise man with Spider-Man face paint? MY ACTUAL SON. #LoveActually

Time for everyone's favourite cameo ...
Oh brilliant. Here comes Rowan. Filmed at midnight in selfridges.
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
Turns out Rowan's appearance was originally meant to add a bit of a 'It's a Wonderful Life' vibe to the film ...
He was meant to be an angel but we cut that bit in the edit. Thank goodness. #LoveActually
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
Originally Rowan's character over-wrapped the gift on purpose to stop Alan rickman being able to buy the necklace. Because he was an angel.

If you've ever wondered what really happened in the scenes with Jack and Judy ...
Just incase you were worried, martin freeman had a little sock on his willy. #LoveActually
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
Turns out JJ's a funny lady ...
January jones wrote half of her lines. She was sooooo funny when we filmed that scene. #LoveActually
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
Seems Emma's in the same boat as the rest of us when we watch Emma Thompson ...
Joni mitchell. Help. Still hurts. Sat on the floor watching her do that scene - 7 takes. Crying every time. Goddess. #LoveActually
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
Here's a little known fact about one of my favourite lines ...
Richard only called colin firth's character 'jamie' so the kids could say 'I hate uncle jamie'. His brother is called jamie. #LoveActually
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
And here's Emma's favourite line ...
'Eight is a lot of legs david'. Favorite line. #LoveActually
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
Think all the romance was down to Richard? Think again! It was Emma who had the most important job ...
I 'designed' the kiss between colin firth and the Portuguese girl. My signature move? His thumb on her lip before they snog. #boom
— emma freud (@emmafreud) December 13, 2015
Sadly, all good things must come to an end ...
As the audience left, richard wouldn't say it was his movie, so I found myself shouting after them 'my daughter was the second lobster'.
